Digital Inequalities
Here I address questions of different kinds of accesses, gaps, and the changing contours of digital divides.
Gaps
-Achievement gap and technology: Educational Technology Is Making Achievement Gaps Even Bigger
Van Dijk
Basically I look at four different kinds of access following the [framework of van Dijk | http://www.cios.org/EJCPUBLIC/012/1/01211.html]. I want to use Van Dijk relational approach to digital inequalities because it allows us to understand the complexity of them (the gaps are not absolute, there are relative inequalities between people and their positions and resources). In particular, I like Van Dijk refinement of the concept of access to digital media. According to him there are successive kinds of access:
- motivational
- material
- skills (digital skills could be:operational, informational, and strategic)
- usage.
